New Skating Rink at the edge of Niagara Falls. Wow!

I really love to ice skate. I also enjoy watching figure skating, ice hockey, and curling. Yes, I am fond of all things related to ice sports and ice skating. I also enjoy visiting Niagara Falls, Ontario where I have seen the beauty of Horseshoe Falls. I especially like to visit Niagara Falls during the “Festival of Lights” event, which takes place during the Christmas season. Recently, I learned that an outdoor ice skating rink was going to be opened right along Horseshoe Falls. Wow! I am looking forward to experiencing this new attraction, along with many others I am sure. Here is more information:

Outdoor skating rink to open Nov. 23 at ‘brink’ of Horseshoe Falls

By The Canadian Press

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – A new public skating rink will open next month “a stone’s throw from the brink of the Horseshoe Falls,” say organizers of the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights.

The outdoor Rink at the Brink, two-thirds the size of an NHL rink, will be located across from the newly renovated Table Rock Centre and offer excellent views of the Falls, says a release.

It will be open daily between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. from Nov. 23 to Feb. 28. Skates and helmets will be available for rent, and skating lessons will also be offered.

Admission without skate rental is $8 for adults, $5.75 for children.

“We think it’s going to be a huge hit with both local residents and visitors to Niagara Falls,” said festival chair Joe Miszk.

$8 to skate on an outdoor rink, that’s ridiculous! Being a resident taxpayer, it should be free for all to enjoy. That’s typical Niagara Fall for you. It’s all about making money and forget about the locals. I think I’ll get in my car and drive an hour into Toronto and skate for free.
What a joke this city is!

Good point about the $8.00 issue. Enjoy your time ice skating in Toronto. :)

Hi! Inquiring about the ice rink. I’ve heard residents of Niagara Falls, Ontario will get a discounted rate. Do you know the rate? Trying to find out. Hoping to celebrate my daughter’s 14th b-day there. Her b-day is New Year’s Eve. If you would kindly email with the cost, I would be grateful. Have a great day and love the site… awesome work.

When I checked, I was told all skaters will be charged $8.00 regardless of where they reside. I was also told that system will be evaluated after this first season ends in February 2010. The operators of the rink will gather feedback to determine what, if any, changes will be made for upcoming skating seasons. I hope your daughter has a very happy birthday. :) I also hope she and the rest of your family have a nice time skating at this rink.

Thank you very much for the positive comments regarding my website. I appreciate this very much.

I also like ice hockey. My favourite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hopefully, they will make the playoffs some day. No sense getting upset about it. Best wishes to you.
