Champions crowned on Canada’s “Battle of the Blades”

There are not too many television shows I watch on a regular basis, but those that feature figure skating or hockey always seem to draw my attention. I do not know who came up with the idea for the show “Battle of the Blades,” which combines figure skaters and former hockey players working on routines together, but I am certainly glad someone did. I enjoyed season one very much.

I realize how much work went into learning these routines, especially considering the change from ice hockey to figure skating. Here is the winning team from season one:

Here is another team that was also a fan favourite:

A lot of hard work goes into figure skating, especially pairs skating. It definitely looks like these pairs enjoyed working together on their routines.

Based on the success of season one, plans to expand “Battle of the Blades” are in the works. I have read reports that other countries, including the United States, England, Australia, and New Zealand, among others are interested in rights to the show as well. I am looking forward to watching the show next season.
